Weekly tips and tools to thrive as an Empath or HSP

Are you already anticipating a busy summer season with friends and family and wondering what you will do to avoid overwhelm? These weekly blogs are perfect for celebrating, rather than apologizing, being a sensitive soul. So take a deep breath. Put the kettle on, or pour a nice iced tea if it is warmer where you are, and let’s visit awhile.

Let’s make a deal to shift from fear and focus on setting the intent for a more peaceful and present summer season. Are you with me so far?

When you recognize that in every moment you are at choice you unchain yourself from past experiences and bring yourself into the present moment where anything is possible. So forget old beliefs about beach parties, beach bodies or the need to find more self-help books for summer reading. You are blessed as a sensitive soul and taking care of your wellbeing will allow you to be helpful to others (something we feel called to do!) Take time to listen in and see what YOU need.

Four Fun Summer Tips for Sensitive Souls…

  1. Get outside ~ How far outside you go is up to you. Walking, hiking, paddling, biking. Or simply sitting outside with your morning coffee and connecting with your environment can help regulate energetic overwhelm. Nature nurtures sensitive souls.
  2. Get grounded ~ When you move your awareness from “out there” to within you can anchor your energies to Mother Earth. Whether you do that barefoot (check out this earthing article) or with a wonderful visualization or meditation, getting grounded gives a place for the frenetic energy to go rather than continuing to circulate through your system.
  3. Get physical ~ Activities are another way to move energy. Gardening is a super way to ground, plus be active. It feels so good to be a physical tired at the end of something you love doing and you can enjoy the rewards. You can move energy indoors too. Whether it is house chores or (cue the sexy music) other activities. Nudge nudge, wink wink.
  4. Get relaxed ~ Summer has sensational sunrises and sunsets. It has the buzz of the bees and twitter of birds. There are foods like the No-Bake Strawberry Shortcake recipe I tried yesterday. Clothes are lighter and looser. Friends like to gather in backyards to share laughter and our pets are delighted for extra walks and play. Think of enjoying a soulsational life this summer using all of your senses (not just the spidey ones that tell you if so and so is sad today.)

Today’s Takeaway: Give yourself permission to choose the most meaningful activities that nourish and nurture you. As a Sensitive Soul you may find that time in nature wins out over time in crowds. 

 It is safe for me to experience my empathy fully. I breathe deeply and ground my energy to return to the body easily.  I experience the pleasure of being in my physical body no matter where I am.  I am at peace.
