You give yourself permission to grieve by recognizing the need for grieving. Grieving is the natural way of working through the loss of a love. Grieving is not weakness nor absence of faith. Grieving is as natural as crying when you are hurt, sleeping when you are tired or sneezing when your nose itches. It is nature’s way of healing a broken heart. – Doug Manning

A quiet current of sadness has run through me. Not just for today, but for a while. Was it a coincidence that “Collateral Beauty” was suggested as a movie to watch today? Perhaps. But I’d rather think of it as Spirit working Its magic and weaving an opportunity to draw that thread up in my energetic tapestry and pull on it and the memory of my Father who, passed four years ago. It will be four years next month when he would take a fall that would bring him to hospital to prepare for a surgery that wouldn’t happDad collageen once they found out he was full of Lung Cancer with only a short time to live.

I could only watch the movie in little chunks and would put it on pause and let the laptop rest wherever I was in the cottage. I would go on to do a chore, gather myself and watch the next snippet that would pull at that thread that connected to my heart and to my memory both.

Dad has been round again twice in the last two weeks as I prepare to honour his wish for me to have a home. Other than that, I haven’t heard from him much since he came to tell me just 3 days before his widow would pass that she was ill. Funny, I hear that “Cats in the Cradle” song in my head now thinking that in many ways I did grow up to be like him.  I too have grown to appreciate the value of laughter, of music and of family.

Most of my family I connect to online. Every day I write to them. And if you are reading this, then please pull up a chair and join us at the table. You are family too, for family is way more than a blood connection. It is an acknowledgement that we are all connected. Heart to heart.

I share my challenges and my joys and my aha moments here. I share the “collateral beauty” that I find around me in hopes that we have a mutual understanding of the simple pleasures that can be found in the sacredIcelebrateyourjourneyness of the everyday.

We need not reach for anything more spectacular, more profound than the immediacy of NOW. No other moments are guaranteed, so there is no need, nor no sense of waiting for something to happen before we measure out our happiness or love. We have the freedom to feel both at any time we wish to share our tapestry. Our life.

One heart.

One life.

Much love.

Today I had plans. I was “supposed” to be recording my next CD, but as the day drew closer I felt I wasn’t quite there. Perhaps I had not collected the right threads of music or texture of words that would touch others hearts and illuminate their path. Or perhaps I was supposed to sit on the couch for the final part of the movie and be reminded once again that everything is as it is meant to be and with the tears, the right words would come and they are these ones on the page in this moment, rather than ones that will be shared in the future.

I am grateful for the grace of this day. Right down to the movie ending at 3:33pm… you know just so I would notice the divine timing of it all.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you.
