We interrupt your regular schedule to encourage you to take a pause. A moment or two of reflection could do you a world of good. LUnknownet’s face it. You have come a a long way baby and we need to make note of it now because you have big things ahead of you and it will be a whole lot easier if you believe in yourself!

There is a grace even with some of the most difficult things, when you surrender to what is, rather than getting your knickers in a knot about trying to make it any different. There is a peace that comes when you listen within and practice discernment about what is in the highest good to do, rather than being pulled about by the shifting energies.

This is not your first time at the rodeo, so breathe. You have already accomplished so much in your life and perhaps making note of it would help you relax into whatever you have placed on your soul’s path at this time. You may have forgotten that. Maybe that is what is causing your stress.

Reflection questions: How often do you stop and take the time to reflect on where you have been and where you are now? Where are you on your priority list right now?

Can you even get your mind quiet enough or focussed for a few moments so that you can do a little life review with compassion for yourself or are you busy judging how far you are on your path? (What the heck is that about really? I mean if you were at the finish line already, then why would you still be here right?) It is a journey my friends. Enjoy it!

Every year around this time I take time to reflect. It’s not just the end of the summer, it is the time of year I was born and so it feels like a time of beginnings. As I prepare to step into this next new phase of my life (cause I have had a bit of a preview and this next year is going to be pretty AMAZING for us all), I think about how much easier it is now. I am no longer on that mental hamster wheel. In fact it has been transformed into a marvellous library instead filled with yummy affirmations and feel good thoughts. Way more enjoyable and helpful too!

It can be easier for you too! Really.

A little tip? STOP RESISTING! Resistance is futile. And it makes you kind of cranky too. The lessons come much more gentler if you listen within.

Get your mind off that hamster wheel. You can’t hear the answers you are seeking if your mind is chattering away. A peaceful mind makes things so much easier.

“Peace is present right here and now, in ourselves and in everything we do and see. Every breath we take, every step we take, can be filled with peace, joy, and serenity. The question is whether or not we are in touch with it. We need only to be awake, alive in the present moment.”

5 tips to help quiet your mind

1. Get out in nature – Step away from the electronics regularly and reconnect with nature. It is part of you and you are part of it. Allow your mind to move from big picture (sky, ocean views, a vast forest, heck the plant section of your favourite garden centre works in a pinch) to the little picture (get real close and marvel at the amazing shapes and colours and smells. Allow it to be a sensual experience). Ahhh doesn’t that feel yummy?

2. Get regular exercise – Your body needs to move. Find what works best for you. It doesn’t need to be speedy, it just needs to be active and if toe tapping or chair dancing is what works best, do it. Your mind will be quieter and your body will be more relaxed so it will be easier to get some sleep.

3. Notice your environment – What is your workspace like? Is it organized or messy? Does it make you feel tense the moment you walk in, or do you feel welcomed and inspired? How does your home feel? Is it a sanctuary that nurtures you and all who enter? Little changes like decluttering or moving things around so the energy flows more easily can make a huge difference to your mind (This is especially true for Virgos!!)

4. Meditate – Before you get your knickers in a knot, I am not suggesting you sit in a particular position, do a mantra and zen out for long periods of time. Mediation happens off the cushion too. Everyday activities can become m
editations. One of my favourite teachers, Thich Nhat Hanh has some great suggestions in his book, “Peace Is In Every Step”, that you might enjoy. (Click here to view a PDF of the book for free)

5. Journal – It can be a gratitude journal or a daily diary where you get the thoughts out on paper and go deeper to explore what patterns you are replaying and connect to your Inner Wisdom and guidance. The key thing is to make it a regular habit. You will be inspired by your very own words and you can empty your mind of the thoughts without worry of forgetting anything. It is ok to let go.

Sometimes, in order to convince our mind that it is ok to relax, we need to tell it why? So before you try any of the tips above, answer this question for yourself. What is one good reason for you to become even more at peace right now? (Jot it down below in the comments section. Perhaps your answer will inspire someone else that self-care and a quieter mind are wonderful things!)
