The trouble with normal is it always get worse. A nod to Bruce Cockburn and a shout out to every Sensitive Soul who can get overwhelmed anywhere the ‘news’ is presented. Heck even the grocery store checkout is enough to shock one’s system. Fear, violence and general ‘not niceness’ screams from the headlines and is featured in the soundbites. Empaths gets triggered. Suddenly we feel like we are carrying the world’s troubles on our shoulders. But we aren’t the only ones.


There are many who have been directly impacted by violence. Sometimes it is on the physical level, like our soldiers who return after war and struggle to join the mainstream again, or at least tolerate the ‘civilians’ and what theyimages-1 get stressed about, as though any of it is a true life and death situation. There are those impacted by sexual violence and how that informs every relationship they will have moving forward. Sadly, there is also violence on all the other 3 levels – emotional, mental and spiritual. And it needs to stop! (*SPOILER ALERT* We need to stop doing it to ourselves first before we go off and heal the world, so this is a step by step process.)

Any time we are out of alignment with our most Authentic Self we are likely making choices that do not energize and nurture ourselves. And that is violence we are committing agains ourselves! Knowingly doing things that are not in harmony with ourselves is an act of violence. And that is why so many are walking around either on autopilot and going through the motions or terribly distraught and acting out. On some level we know things aren’t right.

My suggestion? It’s time to get radical. (Tie dye clothes and patchouli oil are optional.) 🙂

What information are you taking in daily and how does it make you feel?

1. Turn it off! Regularly turn off the media stream. Get the news once. Not every 20 minutes. Not much has changed in that time, but your sweet soul is still trying to process how one person can harm another in the name of politics, religion, greed, self-preservation or whatever the cause may be. And if you are an Empath or HSP you may still be physical or emotionally very much engaged with what you have heard. There are tiny energetic hooks being made that will become all the more solid if there is enough repetition.

It’s true when we watch the news. And those hooks come from our social media feeds, from the TV we watch, the books we read, the people we regularly speak with.

Anyone ready for the good news for a change?!?!!


2. Find a Feel Good Focus We are at choice. Too often we forget that whether or not there is good news “out there,” when you are balanced and connected you will always be able to hear that still small voice within. Your connection to the Divine.

And you know what?

You are loved. You are worthy. And you are divine by design so if you listening deeply you will hear some pretty yummy stuff. And when you are feeling loved up and yummy you will be able to go out and make a difference in YOUR world. The world you dream of living in will be that much closer to being a reality.

3. Radical self-care could include refusing to take in the steady diet of fear that is being fed out to the masses. Each of us really are a part of this whole and while we are pulled to focus on what isn’t working, there is so much that is. Focus on that. And then, as you feel strong and you feel pulled to help (cause we know that sensitives want everyone to be happy and well.. even that person across the waters who we are told is not our friend. Yes us conscious living types are radical like that. We send love EVERYWHERE. It can not be withheld from one without messing up our flow!


images-34. Be childlike once more.  Kids know about the Golden Rule. Especially sensitive ones. They will not bully others when they feel safe themselves. They will try to help.

I remember as a child, sitting in front of a blue flickering screen and watching the war brought to us. Packaged for us. It was ‘them’ over there that were killing each other. We just got to watch it from the comforts of our living rooms after dinner. What were we thinking soaking that stuff up, I thought to myself as a small child. I would get headaches and stomach pains regularly as I absorbed the negativity. Where was the good news channel? Seriously.

When I grew up I figured there would be one by then, right along side the Jetson’s talking TV/Phone combo. Well now we have that cell phone but we seem to be missing out on the flying car and the good news show or network. Why are we continuing to be taught fear rather than love?  Imagine if we returned to the innocence, faith and trust that we had when we were first born.


5. Reach out. When you feel overwhelmed, know that you are not alone. Journalling doesn’t always cut it. Sometimes you need a living breathing LISTENER. That is something that Empowered Empaths do very well. We will not jump in and try and fix things. We will sit with you and witness the emotions that are moving through you at this time because we really do understand how you feel. We also know that emotions come and go and then all comes back to balance.


Are we being called to be personal ‘good news channels?’

I think so. Clearly, once again we are being invited to be the change in the world that we wish to see. Giving yourself permission to be your most Authentic Self allows you to shine. Raising your own vibration energetically cheers others on to do the same. Perfect right?

Use these reflections questions below as a guide on how small changes on an individual level can make big changes on a global level.
